The community is centered around Lake Shangri-La, a private catch-and-release lake that serves as the recreational heart of the neighborhood. Annual dues cover road maintenance, trash removal, and full access to the association amenities. Entry to the community is restricted to those who can provide proper identification for themselves and their vehicles, giving the neighborhood a secure and private character.

STR is permitted in Brier Crest Woods with registration through both Tunkhannock Township and the BCW office. All rental properties must first be registered and approved by Tunkhannock Township before renting. Once township approval is in place, owners complete the BCW online registration form at least 24 hours before guests arrive. A registration fee applies per rental, and the community sets limits on rental length. Rentals over 30 consecutive days are classified as long-term. STR properties are limited to a maximum of 6 bedrooms and 16 occupants, subject to septic capacity. All guests must abide by BCW Rules and Regulations.
