Community Setting

Blue Heron Woods is a private residential community near Hawley in Pike County, spanning parts of Palmyra, Blooming Grove and Lackawaxen Townships. Built on land that was once part of a hunting club, it is made up of large wooded homesites, generally about two to fourteen acres, giving it far more space and privacy than the denser planned communities around Lake Wallenpaupack.

STR Investor Notes

Nightly and weekly rentals are not permitted, but rentals of 30 days or longer are allowed, so the opportunity here is monthly or seasonal leasing rather than vacation STR.
Long-term rentals need association registration, insurance and a copy of the lease, so plan for the paperwork before a tenant moves in.
Two-to-fourteen-acre lots and surrounding State Game Lands suit buyers who want privacy and space, which is a different market from the amenity-driven communities nearby.
Two miles from Lake Wallenpaupack and close to Hawley, though the community itself has no lake rights or recreational facilities.

Rentals of 30 days or longer are permitted; nightly and weekly STR is not. Information current as of September 2026. Verify with the Blue Heron Woods Property Owners Association before purchase.
