Lakeview Estates is a small private community near Gouldsboro in southern Wayne County, built around 150-acre Lake Watawga. The association describes 132 planned lots on the eastern side of the lake, which it owns along with the dam. The community backs onto roughly 40,000 acres of protected state forest, giving it an unusually secluded setting for somewhere within reach of Scranton and Interstate 380.
Lake Watawga was created in the late nineteenth century to supply ice to New York City. Today it anchors the community, with quiet boating, a sand beach and fishing; gas-powered boats are not permitted, which keeps the water calm. The association also maintains about 2.5 miles of private nature trails along the forest boundary, a community lodge, a playground, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts and boat racks, and it runs central sewer, road, trash and recycling services.
The result feels closer to a private nature preserve than a conventional resort subdivision, with homes set among forest and wetland and an association that emphasizes lake-water monitoring and stewardship. Residents include both full-time and vacation owners, and the community is not gated.

Rentals are permitted at Lakeview Estates, subject to the association's rules. Owners must follow the community's rental requirements, including submitting a landlord rental form to the community manager and registering the rental, and renters must follow community rules. The association also sets a minimum rental period, so buyers should confirm the current figure in the resale package rather than assuming weekend rentals are possible. Lehigh Township separately licenses short-term rentals of 30 days or less, so a township license is required as well. Buyers should confirm both the association's current rental rules and the township requirements before purchasing.
