Blue Heron Woods is a private residential community near Hawley in Pike County, spanning parts of Palmyra, Blooming Grove and Lackawaxen Townships. Built on land that was once part of a hunting club, it is made up of large wooded homesites, generally about two to fourteen acres, giving it far more space and privacy than the denser planned communities around Lake Wallenpaupack.
The community has private paved roads and underground utilities rather than a resort-style amenity package. It is surrounded by State Game Lands and sits about two miles from Lake Wallenpaupack, close to boating, fishing and hiking, as well as Hawley's shops and restaurants.
Blue Heron Woods is near Lake Wallenpaupack but does not include deeded lake access, a beach or boat slips.

The association's rules, last updated October 2024, define a short-term rental as a stay of fewer than 30 days and state that the association will not allow short-term rentals or subletting.
