All five lakes have boat launch areas and seasonal boat rack rentals. Boating is restricted to electric motors only, and all watercraft must be registered with the association office. The lakes are stocked annually with bass on a catch-and-release basis and also support pickerel, carp, bluegill, crappie, and panfish.

Emerald Lakes Association permits short-term rentals. Owners must register each rental with the association and register guests before check-in, and registered guests can purchase amenity passes to use the community facilities. Both townships in the community allow short-term rentals in residential areas. In Tobyhanna Township, an annual township STR permit is required, and the township sets operating rules covering occupancy, parking and local response to the property. In Tunkhannock Township, a township STR permit and inspection are required. A Tobyhanna permit is tied to the owner rather than the property, so a buyer must apply for a new permit before renting; buyers on the Tunkhannock side should also confirm permit requirements with the township rather than rely on a seller's permit. Buyers should confirm the township of any property and the current association rules before purchasing.
