Community Setting

Trails End, formally Shohola Falls Trails End, is a large private recreational camping community in Shohola Township, Pike County, along Route 6 in the eastern Poconos. Established in 1972, it covers about 400 wooded acres with more than 1,800 individually owned lots, making it one of the larger recreational developments in the region.

This is not a conventional residential subdivision. Lots are generally about 50 by 90 feet and are intended for an RV or camper, along with approved improvements such as a deck, screened room or storage shed. The community operates year round for owners, though it is busiest in the warmer months, and a lot may not be used as a primary residence.

The community is gated, with a gatehouse, owner gate cards and an on-site security operation. The Shohola Falls Trails End Property Owners Association owns and maintains the private roads and the recreational facilities. Trails End sits in the wooded landscape of northern Pike County, about fourteen miles east of Lake Wallenpaupack.

Amenities

⚠ Lots here are recreational rather than residential. A lot may not be used as a primary residence, and occupancy is limited to no more than 180 days in any 365-day period.

Short-Term Rental Notes

✗ STR Not Permitted — 30-Day Minimum Rental

Short-term rentals are not permitted at Trails End. The association's rules set a minimum rental term of 30 days, so nightly and weekly rentals are prohibited. Rentals of 30 days or longer are allowed, but the owner must register the renter with the association office and security, giving the rental term, renter identification, the number of occupants and a signed acknowledgement of the community rules. Renters are treated as guests and are not issued gate cards. No separate Shohola Township short-term rental ordinance was found, but the association's own rule applies regardless. Buyers should confirm the current rules with the association before purchasing.

STR eligibility, HOA fees, and community rules change frequently. Always verify current status directly with the HOA and relevant township before purchase. Information on this page is provided for general reference only and does not constitute legal or financial advice.
